C. C. Profiles
Teaching Pack 1
The course documentation consists of a Tutor's Pack and a Student's
Pack. The Student's Pack consists of worksheets and the Tutor's Pack
consists of the student's worksheets with the answers entered in together
with a page or more of notes on each topic tackled in the work sheet
Summary of the Course Chapters:
 | Chapter 1: Concept of Caddy Profiles
| | |
Using the four well known essential oils lavender, teatree, cinnamon leaf and chamomile roman the students are introduced to the concept of the Caddy Profile. By the end of this chapter they are able to create Caddy Profiles and use them to compare the properties of the four oils.
|
 | Chapter 2: Chemical Families
| | |
The colours in the Caddy Profiles represent the proportions of the chemical families to be found in an oil. Chapter 2 introduces the student to the chemical families and their electrochemical behaviour. The final part of the chapter ensures that the students can take full advantage of the structured information on 90 essential oils given in the book 'Essential oils in Colour'
|
 | Chapter 3: Comparing Essential Oils
| | |
To encourage the interpretation of the Caddy Profile the students are asked to construct five Caddy Profiles from given data and then to compare and contrast the possible nature of these five unnamed oils. The oils used in this comparison exercise are five eucalyptus oils that have quite varied chemical composition.
|
 | Chapter 4: Blending Essential Oils
| | |
Starting from very simple blends the students both visualise and calculate the Caddy Profiles of blended oils. By the end of this chapter they are able to produce the Caddy Profile of any blend of oils.
|
 | Chapter 5: Case Study
| | |
In this chapter the students explore 3 different blends of oils that have been found to be effective in helping sufferers of Raynaud's Disease. By the end of the chapter the students have a structure to follow that will help them compare and contrast different blends of oils.

Summary of the Course Chapters:
 | Chapter 1:Chapter 1: Elements and Atomic Structure
| | |
The students are introduced to the elements and atomic structure step by step. They build up the first part of the Periodic Table. In particular they study the carbon, hydrogen and oxygen molecules.
|
 | Chapter 2: Compounds and Molecules
| | |
In this chapter the students learn all the relevant definitions of ionic bonding and covalent bonding. Examples of ionic compounds, molecules of an element and molecular compounds are illustrated.
|
 | Chapter 3: Essential Oil Molecules
| | |
To help the students understand the functional groups for each chemical family a detailed set of notes and worksheets take them through many illustrative examples.
